George Grant was in born in 1947 in Port of Mentieth, Stirlingshire. After living in various locations throughout Scotland he has settled in Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire.

George studied at Glasgow School of Art between 1964 and 1967.

After many years of exhibiting and selling, he is now pursuing a career in full time painting.

In 2003 and he joined the Paisley Art Institute, where he has been awarded the Scottish Drawing Purchase Prize 2000, the Arnold Clark Painting Prize in 2001, and was a finalist in the Aspect prize 2005, exhibiting in the joint prizewinners show in January 2006.
